White-breasted Robin, Wungong Gorge, WA
White-breasted robin is endemic to south west Australia and is one of the reasons I wanted a week south of Perth before meeting up with Josh and heading north.
Western yellow robin. This species occurs mainly in south western Australia, although there is a population on the Eyre peninsula in South Australia which is a different race and which I saw near Port Lincoln last year.
Australian magpie. This species is actually a large butcherbird and is common across large parts of Australia. This is the western "white-backed" magpie, whereas those in the east are black backed and unsurprisingly called "black-backed" magpie.
Australian painted lady.
I was quite excited when I saw a few Monarchs around Wungong Gorge, but it turns out that they are yet another introduced and pest species down under.
There maybe more, click to find out >>>
