Just outside Cervantes there is a small pool in which the conditions are so saline and so extreme that stromatolites can grow. This is nothing like the scale of those at Hamelin Pool, yet stromatolites none the less. See the

Keep off the stromatolites! There were a handful of red-capped plovers around the lake, as well as red-necked stint, grey-tailed tattlers, greenshank and common sandpipers.
